'Nude Beauty Shaving her Eyebrows'

This woodblock print depicts a a Beauty, in a very flattering poise, trimming her eyebrows. It was first published c1800. This later, smaller version, c1910-1920, was published on silk-infused paper, which presents like linen. Many of Hosada's Bijin prints continued to be printed after his death. He was considered a master of beauty prints. They were published in small format sizes at the turn of the last century for the tourist trade. This woodblock is unsigned, but definitely an image originally produced by Hosada. This print is in superb condition. It measures 7" high by 5" wide.    P258
