'Women Stopping Travelers'

'Goyu' #36, Hoeido Edition of Series 'Fifty-three Stations of Tokaido'

This woodblock print depicts women in the 'pleasure district' stopping potential clients.  It was originally produced c1833, in the Edo Period.  This later edition dates to c1950.  This print bears Hiroshige's cipher, along with title and publisher seals, and a censor seal in the margin.  It is oban size measuring 13" x 8.75", and is in superb condition.   P3117
