'Maiko in Kyoto: A Spring Beauty'

This beautifully composed print depicts Maiko in a springtime scene, under a cascading canopy of cherry blossoms.  Her kimono matches the colors of spring.  This print is sealed, but we cannot decipher the artist's identity.  This woodblock print likely dates to c1930s.  It is a transitional design with qualities and characteristics of traditional ukiyo-e and a more westernized shin hanga presentation.  It is nicely matted and bamboo-framed.  P5911
