'Horse I'

This very handsome woodblock print depicts a horse in a simple, yet beautiful presentation. This print is sealed by the Uchida Publishers, but does not bear an artist's seal. The print has wonderfully rich color. It dates to the WWII-era in the 1940s, perhaps early-1950s, given the Uchida seal used. Americans serving in the armed forces often purchased woodblock prints while stationed in Japan. This woodblock is beautifully matted and framed. The sight size measures 16" x 10.75" under its ivory/gray double-mat, and it is framed in a lovely vintage frame measuring 24" x 18".
