'Boy in Snow'

This pleasing woodblock print depicts a young boy in a snow scene leaning on his shovel, with his sled tucked between bamboo trees. There is a lone bamboo leaf branch hanging heavy with freshly fallen snow. The colors are vibrant and fresh. This print is sealed by the artist, but we cannot read the signature. The lower mark is the Kanji cipher for the Bijutsu Shoshi Uchida Publishing Company, which was established in 1909 and continues to the present. This print likely dates to the early 1950s. Many artists produce works for the Uchida Company. This print is beautifully matted in a deep inset ivory mat with a turquoise and gold bead line. The print sight size is 12.5" x 9". It is archivally matted and framed in a complementary gold tone wood frame measuring 20" x 14".
