This early c1850 woodblock print depicts a Kabuki Theatre scene with a male actor, likely Ichikawa Danjuro VIII in the role of a Samurai. He appears to be dreaming or recalling a battle with a female Samurai, who is pictured in a panel above him. She is wielding a sword, and he has a chigiriki, a pole weapon in his teeth. This original woodblock print bears Kunisada's cipher, with a long title box, printer seals and censor/date seals as well. It shows some wear, but is in excellent condition, given its age.  The print's sight size is 14" x 10", and the frame measures 19" x 14.75". It is matted in orange, which complements the print colors, and the frame is a wood black and goldtone pattern. US insured shipping is $35.00.      P4536      $295
