This woodblock print depicts Byakugō-ji, a Buddhist temple in Nara, Japan. A number of wooden statues of the Heian and Kamakura periods have been designated Important Cultural Properties and the temple's five-colored camellias are a Prefectural Natural Monument. This oversized woodblock by Saito is executed in classic Saito style. It is a very large print in double-oban size, a very desirable format among collectors. Saito employed a very edgy, modernistic and contemporary approach in his art (Bio attached), which is well-reflected in this print. It bears Saito's signature and red cipher in the block. This mid-century modern-style woodblock print is from a limited edition series from 1955, and dated as such. This print is number 190 of 200. This print is in fine condition.. The print itself measures 16" x 21", matted in sable brown, and framed measuring 21.5" x 26". Shipping will be based upon your zip code because of its size. P71150 $1295.00
