'Mitake' from Series Sixty-Nine Stations of Kiso Kaido 1st Edition, No. 1 of 500

This print depicts a group of tiled-roof houses.  Best of all it hails from Nishijima's series 'Sixty-nine Stations of Kiso Kaido, and better yet, it is Number 1 of 500.  It is artist-signed and self-published, an original first edition, 1/500 woodblock print in vibrant colors.  It measures an over-sized 25" x 19" for the mat, and 20.75" by 15" for the print.  This print is in excellent condition tipped on its original mat.

Nishijima was born in 1945 in Yamaguchi Province of Japan. From 1964 to 1968 he studied the art of Woodblock Prints in the studio of the Mikumo publishing house in Kyoto as well as exhibiting his work with the Kyoto independent artists and in solo displays. From 1972 he focused his immense talents on limited edition woodblocks using traditional old buildings as his main subject matter.    P60513
