'A Lady Tending to Snowball Hydrangea Blossoms as a Butterfly Dances in the Distance'

Kuchi-e woodblock from Series 'Senshu no hana'; 'A Thousand Types of Flowers'

A Beauty is trimming oversized Snowball Hydrangea blossoms, while watching a Butterfly dance.  The woman's kimono is finely detailed and brightly colored, against a backdrop that pales, leaving the Beauty and Butterfly as a main focus This print dates to c1900-1905 and was published by Akiyama Buemon.  It shows some wear, as can be seen in the photos. There is some circular glare from the camera. The print's sight size is 13.75" x 9.5", and the frame measures 19" x 15". It is matted in a white mat, in a vintage wood frame. US insured shipping is $35.00. Ikeda studied under Mizuno Toshikata.  he is best known for his kuchi-e, Bijin-ga and triptychs of the Russo-Japanese War Battles.  He was the teacher for Japan-based French ukiyo-e artist Paul Jacoulet.        P2052
