Fumio Fujita (b.1933)

Fumio Fujita was born in Aichi province in 1933. He graduated from the renowned Musashino College of Fine Arts in 1955. In 1963 Fumio Fujita began to make woodblock prints in moku hanga style - self-carved and self-printed. He controlled the production of his prints, hand-carving and printing himself. He dated, numbered and signed his early works from the 1960s. Fumio painted a whole series of abstracts in the early 1960s, and he also painted landscapes of trees, many with forest images because he loved walking in the forest. He has participated in numerous exhibitions, with countless awards and recognition in his lifetime....a life well-lived.
