'Mount Haruna under Snow in Kozuke Province' #26 from the Series Famous Places in the Sixty-odd Provinces of Japan

This beautiful miniature snow print depicts Mount Haruna during a heavy snow, with travelers traversing a high bridge by a small village.  The trees and mountain dominate this scene, very dramatic.  It bears Hiroshige's cipher and publisher seals.  It was originally introduced in 1853. This woodblock print dates to c1920 and was produced for the tourist trade. This woodblock print, set on an ivory mat, is in excellent original condition. It measures 3.75" high by 2.5".
