'Seacoast Futoni' d.1961

This large woodblock print is dai-oban size, which is a double oban print. Sasajima was a very modern and contemporary artist whose main body of work was produced in black and white. This work depicts a seashore view of a seaside village, with small huts dotting the shoreline's craggy coast, all in black and white, simple, yet effective. The print is signed 'K. Sasajima' and numbered #3/50 and dated 61'. This print sight size is 12" x 21". It is archivally matted in a deep ivory inset mat with a gold tone bead, and professionally framed in a complementary gold tone wood frame measuring 19" x 29". This print is in wonderful original condition. Sasajima was an elementary school teacher for many years, with an interest in art, studying and taking art courses in his spare time. The artist in him won out and in 1945 he left teaching to pursue art full time. His full bio is attached on the backside of the frame.
