'Spring at Yasaka Pagoda'

This small format woodblock print depicts the 'Yasaka Pagoda' in springtime. The stylized flowers are Cherry Blossoms. Ido's seal is in the lower right.  This print measures 7.5" x 6", and it is in fine condition.  It dates to c1980, produced by Ido's hand.  Ido remains active today, still painting and producing woodblocks.  He was born in China, but has been in Japan since 1946. He studied in Kyoto with Yoshida Koho and Otsubo Shigechika and by 1984 was a Teacher of Seiji Sano. Ido is a highly regarded artist in the contemporary woodblock movement and his art is in many museums, including MOMA, and the Boston Museum of Fine Art.  P2319
