'Mt. Fuji and Nihondaira'
This beautiful woodblock print depicts Mt. Fuji as seen from Nihondaira at night. Koichi Okada was a Japanese landscape painter who worked with the publisher Unsodo on a series of woodblock prints of Japan during the late 1940s. He was born in 1907 in Tokyo. He studied with Ishii Hakutei and Arishima Ikuma. His paintings were exhibited at Teiten and Nitten and he was a member of the art group Issuikai. Outside of Japan, Okada is primarily known for his strikingly detailed woodblock prints of Mt. Fuji, which are exceptional. This lifetime woodblock print dates to the 1940s. It bears Okada's seal and the marks of the publisher. The print sight size is 15.25" x 10.5", and the frame measures 20" x 14". P20916
