'Village Scene with Water Carrier'
This woodblock print depicts a large sprawling farmhouse with a man carrying water as day turns to twilight. Saito produced a whole series of woodblocks with farmhouses and a village as its main subjects, all produced in the early 1970s. This print has rich, lush colors, with a single tree in green foliage providing bold color. Saito employed a very edgy, modernistic and contemporary approach in his art, which is well-reflected in this print.  It bears Saito's full signature in the block, along with his 'Kiyoshi' red seal.  This mid-century modern-style woodblock print is in fine original condition.
