'Plum Blossom, Pink'

This beautiful woodblock print depicts a lush cluster of Plum Blossoms in pink hues.  The plum blossom symbolizes perseverance and hope, as well as beauty, purity, and the transitoriness of life.  In Confucianism, the plum blossom stands for the principles and values of virtue.  This print was published in 1954 by Unsodo Publishing Co., and bears the Unsodo watermark in the lower corner.  Shodo published many botanical woodblock prints in his lifetime, each prettier than the next.  Shodo's cipher, along with the title and publisher marks are noted in the margins.  The print measures 15.25" x 10.25", and the frame measures 22" x 17". It is matted in a silver/gray mat, and a very nice silver frame. It is in very good condition.     P4053      $165.00
