'Wakoku of the Echizenya', from the series 'Models for Fashion: New Year Designs as Fresh as Young Leaves'

This print depicts two women, a Courtesan named 'Wakoku' and her young maid, playing with a pair of monkeys.  It has beautiful color, with very refined details. This is a woodblock print series was originally published c1778-1780.  This later edition dates to c1950. It bears Koryusai's cipher, along with a Title and Series box, and the publisher's seal. It measures 11" high by 7.5" wide. It is in excellent original condition, with stray paper on the right edges from being tipped in a portfolio, no damage. P3218
