'Cio Cio San' from 'Madame Butterfly' c1970

This intaglio aquatint hand-colored print depicts the beautiful young woman 'Cio Cio San', which translates to 'Butterfly' in Japanese, and refers to 'Madame Butterfly', the star of the famed Italian opera by Giacomo Puccini.  It is a limited numbered edition print #32/95.  Kunic produced a series of aquatint prints, all hand-colored, with heavy gold accents, in this theme in the 1960s-70s, all depicting characters from the story, each so very graceful in its presentation.  This print is titled, numbered and signed by Helen Kunic.  It measures 8" x 3.5" on a cream mat and framed, 14.5" x 9".  It is professionally matted, including its original paper backing (worn), with the musical notes of Madame Butterfly, and Kunic's labels.  The print is in fine original condition.   P3368  $215.00
