'Toshogu Shrine, Ueno' from the series 'True Pictures of Famous Places in Tokyo'
This beautiful print depicts visitors entering Toshogu Shrine on a snowy evening. Overhead is the large gate entrance to the shrine. Yasuji introduced this print c1882-86. He was a student of Kobayashi, Kiyochika, and his talent was noted to be excetional. Unfortunately, he died at the age of 25. This print likely dates to c1930, during a booming tourist trade. This print measures 3.5" x 5.5", and it is handsomely framed in a frame measuring 7" x 9". It is in fine condition. PS74/9246 $75
